Optimization of Planar Array Electrostatic Sensor for Metal Surface Defect Detection

Static electricity is usually generated in the damage area of metal surface due to contact friction, and charge distribution density can reflect size, shape, relative position area. Based on this, a planar array electrostatic sensor designed detect defect this paper, shielding method, number electrodes, electrode arrangement are optimized taking account induced value, uniformity sensitivity image correlation coefficient. Different reconstruction algorithms (e.g. Landweber algorithm, conjugate Gradient Tikhonov regularization primary dual interior point method) utilized evaluate performance sensor. The results demonstrated that with hexagonal integrated shielding, new arrangement, duty cycle 80%, peripheral electrode, has better quality for all tested models. When using PDIPA algorithm reconstruction, coefficient exceed 0.9.
